Rainwater Runoff
After too many days of rain, I finally got up the nerve to venture out in order to investigate how water is getting into the garage. Here's the first possibility: The neighboring apartment building has a rain water downspout that drains into the side yard. Supposedly, there used to be a very tiny culvert that would divert the water somewhere. Of course, it had mostly washed away, and the water pools next to the garage. It's difficult to see in the image, but the water is about 6" deep next to the garage foundation. I built a small berm that extends from the fencing in the background to just off the front of the image. It's only rained during working hours this past week, so I haven't had a chance to see if the remedy worked.
